Making Happy Mail

I know we have a ton of cardmakers at the store and I am always so envious of those adorable cards that show up in my mailbox (thanks ladies!)!  The time and effort put into a homemade card warms my heart - sometimes just as much as the message inside.  You all are the best and as Jennifer McGuire says, it really is happy mail!

While I am not a card maker, I do like to send mail and have sent a lot of lettering orders and packages last year.  I have decided that even though my cards aren't homemade, I can kick my cards up a notch with some adorable envelopes.  I ended up doing a deep dive into some Pinspiration for awesome addressing and I wanted to share some of my favorites with you.  And, I also love that you don't have to be a letterer to make these envelopes - just regular old printing can make them look awesome!

I love how just a little fancy styling makes these envelopes look so much cooler than just regular addressing!  And, if you are addressing shower or wedding invitations, how easy would these be?  You can be your own faux-calligrapher!

Do you have your own trick to making envelopes look amazing?  We would love to hear it!

Freeeeee Things for June!

Good morning!  I hope you all had a wonderful three day weekend.  We certainly enjoyed spending a little extra time together as a family and having a chance to show our thanks for the service and sacrifice of so many.  It is so important to me to teach my son gratitude and days like yesterday are wonderful examples to stop our busy lives to take a moment to appreciate everything we have!

I am also very appreciative of freeeeee things and am really loving this month's free printable set from Simple Stories!
I love the sunglasses and flamingos!  These graphics scream for everything I love about summer - ice cream, delicious treats, and cute birds - and skips everything I dislike (sunburns, mosquito bites, and sweating)!  Want to grab one of these printable sets?  Zip right over here to get yours!

Now, go get crafty and enjoy the last week of May!

Summer Time!

Happy Last Day of School to our Knox County friends!  May the day be short and your summer fun be long!

Anyone doing a little traveling this summer?  Or some spectacular staycationing?  I always felt like summer time was a giant vacation - whether home or away - because I was out of my routine!  My mom had some summer vacation rules and one of them was to journal everyday.  I now see that this was a ploy to get us to practice writing, but that is neither here or there.  Also, when we went on vacation, my brother and I always had to journal about our day and memories.  Looking back, it is such a wonderful memento of our travels.  Sorry Anderson, you definitely have to do this!

I created my own travelers journal for our family vacation last fall and have been thinking about what a wonderful (and affordable) way to create a journal for kids!  I wanted to share the tutorial that I found (and it totally older kid friendly) to create some journals for your summer!  These are great blank canvases for summer or traveling journaling!

So grab your favorite piece of patterned paper and I put some plain cardstock on the inside... secured in with a little bakers twine and a hole punch!

What do you want to use your journals for?  Come grab some paper to create these adorable journals and get started on some amazing travelers notebooks!

Graduation Cards

I may be a touch late to the party here, but I wanted to share some cute graduation cards with you guys!  My cousin graduated from high school last weekend (congrats Hays!) and I took my son card shopping to find a special card to send to him.  I was sooooo frustrated to find that every single card had a note stuck in the middle said "Money or Gift Card Here".  First of all, I think that is a little bit tacky, and second of all, I had a way cooler plan than a gift card!

These seem to all be a bit dated, so take it with a grain of salt, but I love the idea of a homemade card to celebrate an amazing accomplishment (and then you have more cash for that great gift)!

And, I get asked a lot, instead of a check, I send a care package of the month for the first year of college!  I love that it is a way to keep in touch and support someone who is leaving home for the first time, and I also get to teach my little one about how to do something special for family!

Drop in and get your card supplies!

Good Day Sunshine!

I am a BIG fan of this new line from Echo Park!  I am so ready to have a great day sunshine!  I love the bright colors and bold patterns.  However, I also know that these things that draw me to a paper line also sometimes make it hard for me to get started.  I love the bright colors, bold patterns, and all the embellishments.  All these amazing design features also sometimes give me a little analysis paralysis.... does that happen to anyone else?  No, just me.  Awesome.

So, I hopped over to the Echo Park Design Teams blog and grabbed myself a little inspiration.

I love these adorable projects and are planning to scraplift all of them!  I love the watermelon and lemon slices - and those flipflops on a line!  So darn cute!  Thanks Echo Park for creating such a cute paper line!

Most of the major paper companies have an amazing design team to use as a resource and you can always count on our wonderful women of the design team to share something amazing!  You can also follow them on our Pinterest page!

Cool Club Alert!

Happy Monday everyone!

Here is to having a wonderful week ahead and getting some amazing things done!  I challenged myself to do one creative thing everyday and an act of kindness everyday - so hopefully this week will be super awesome!  I'll report back and let you know how it goes :)

This week is another busy week at the City!  We are so excited to have Scrap Club, featuring Bo Bunny, going on tomorrow.  There is one more spot in the morning and two in the afternoon.  You are going to love - and use the heck - out of these adorable layouts!

Those pinwheels?  Yes please!  I love the colors that lend themselves to fun summer adventures - it makes me think of the beach already!  If you haven't signed up yet, follow this link to get in on all the fun!

And, I am so excited to share our City Chicks Bible Journaling Facebook art group!  This is a secret group on Facebook, but search and request an entry if you would like to be a part.  There is a ton of inspiration and challenges going on!  Plus, you can get to know others in our Bible Journaling community too!  It is a great way to learn more about bible journaling and how to expand what you already do - thank you guys for getting this great community going!

Exciting News in Bible Journaling!

Happy Friday Everyone!

I hope you guys are ready for a delightful weekend and a little bit of relaxing and crafting!  We have Inky Chicks and a Shadow Box class going on Saturday if you are looking for a fun afternoon.

I am also really excited to share some new developments in our Bible Journaling classes!  I am stepping down from teaching Bible journaling.  Our summer is getting crazy with travel and my little one is starting preschool in the fall and weekday traveling is just too much for us.  So, Missy Brown is going to be taking over for me and I know she is going to do an INCREDIBLE job!

If you don't know her, Missy is a busy mom of three kids - elementary school, middle school, and college!!!  She is a self-proclaimed school and art supply junkie (and really, who isn't) and found bible journaling about a year ago.  Missy does it all - a little scrapbooking, planner-ing, and zentangle!

Missy has been leading a bible journaling class at her church for some time and has an incredible collection of Bibles she has journaled - I snagged a few pictures from her Instagram that are particularly swoon-worthy!

One of my favorite parts of Missy's bibles is how she combines the art techniques with journaling!

Missy is always trying new techniques and methods and products.  You guys are going to love her classes and I can't wait to see what everyone is journaling!

Missy is offering our regular bible journaling class on the second Tuesday, as well as a weekend class.  On June 9, Missy is teaching an intro to bible journaling class and a story teller workshop.  The story teller workshop is giving me all the heart eyes!!!  Plus, June 12, she is teaching salt watercolors!  You can register for all of these classes on the website or by calling the store to get on the list.

I am so glad Missy is taking the reins of bible journaling and I can't wait to see the spectacular things that she will be doing with you guys - don't forget to share your pictures with us!
