Christmas Crafts

If you haven’t been in the store to see all the wonderful crafts...let me give you a peek!
First is this gorgeous mantle crafted by our store manager (and craft queen) Gina Bates! Oh. My. St. Nick!

Then we have two advent calendars. I’m not sure how long we are going to get to keep them on come look at them!

The first is a KaiserCraft advent tree calendar. Look at what Jesselyn Belk has done with one! This is so beautiful. It’s just a stunning piece! She dressed this tree with the KaiserCraft “Silver Bells Collection” and so many beautiful flowers. I love these colors...

We have two more kits left at the store…

Next is a more traditional and beautifully made box advent calendar. I think Jennifer Gatewood got the advent calendar from Hobby Lobby, and then dressed it up with Echo Park’s “The Story of Christmas” paper line and stickers.

Isn’t it fabulous?! I love the painting and stamping she did to the outside wood. All of the little embellishments are so fun to look at. My daughter would be all about this craft! (I need to tell her it’s for the kids to fill with treats for their parents!)

Then there is this fun little decoration…

See you for Small Business Saturday! We have some great deals and an enormous door prize to give away! Store opens at 10 am. Be there or be 12x12 (wink).

Say Cheese

“Say Cheese” by Simple Stories is still *mostly* in stock. I have a couple of inspiration pieces for you!

Jennifer Gatewood shows us how versatile the line and embellishments are for travel pages. I think this page is as perfect as they come!

Look at all the cool embellishments! Some are paper and stickers, some are epoxy stickers, and then there are the chipboard and wood pieces.  You really have to look at it carefully to not miss all the fabulous little details!

And then you have the trip the papers make easy to document! Jeanette Kraehmer did a wonderful job using the foiled paper to set up this Disney Rapunzel picture.

I love the little pieces of chipboard and paper that add so much to the style and feeling of this page. And the glitter! Oh, it’s perfect!

Do you have any vacation pictures that need some fun documenting? Give Simple Stories “Say Cheese” a try!

"Hello Winter" Project Life Style

Lesley Miller has whipped up some snowy fun for us with the Echo Park “Hello Winter” paper line. Attention all you Project Life-ers...Lesley is going to inspire you!

Every piece of this layout has cute embellishments and journaling. I love Lesley’s style...she gives me the feeling that I could do this (one day).

Look at the washi, the stickers...and the funny pictures (I love the title, Don’t sled dogs go in the front?) Lots of the pocket pieces are from the cut-apart sheet (I think it was designed to work that way! *wink*)

And then she gives us a traditional page. Many scrapbookers use Project Life styled pages to bring in more photos and journaling alongside the traditional one or two photo pages. I love this approach. I think it is brilliant!

Thanks for showing us how it is done Lesley!

Carta Bella Have a Merry Christmas

Carta Bella has a “very merry” traditional Christmas line this year. I love the Santa image in this line! (I Love Santa images in general, but this one is wonderful!) Their line “Have a Merry Christmas” is designed by Carina Gardner. Chevrons, polka dots, stripes, reindeer, stars, poinsettias, and holly. It’s all here!
Paula Sales made us a set of 6 cards using pieces from the cut-apart sheet and ephemera pack with double sided paper as the accents and backgrounds. Besides the fabulous images you see here, there is a 12x12 sheet of just cut-apart gift tags! They are making it easy for you!

Margaret Carpenter joined in with a double layout in the same paper line. Look at the fun mix of patterns and shapes! I love the way Margaret uses the Kiwi Lane templates!

I love the little embellishments Margaret scattered...enamel dots, wood stars, and the poinsettia die cuts. We have a large and a small set of Impression Obsession Poinsettia dies in the store...just check out this link!

Stay tuned for lots and lots of Christmas inspiration. If you haven’t been in the store for the last several’s looking like the North Pole in here! The elves have been busy decorating! Come see us!

Ribbon Stash

I still love to see ribbon on page layouts. If you are still hoarding special ribbon look at the way Jennifer Gatewood and Amanda Hillard have used it on these three pages. Maybe this will inspire you to dig through your stash!

Not only is there a beautiful lacy ribbon along the edge, but the paper strips also give the look of ribbons. This is such a beautiful page! The yellows and black and white off set this priceless black and white photo so well. The papers Jennifer used are from the Basic Grey “Barista” line and  Authentique’s “Beauty” line. The ribbon came from our stash at the store!

This is another gorgeous layout from Jennifer Gatewood! I love the warmth that this whole page has. The ribbons layered at the top and the beautifully colored wood veneer leaves are perfect. This paper...couldn’t be more perfect! It’s Authentique “Nestled”. The embellishments are from Authentique and Simple Stories (Pumpkin Spice).

Who says you can’t use lace on a boy page? Not Amanda Hillard! Isn’t this lace so pretty on this very interesting page? It softens the geometric shaped banners and gives the photo a place to rest. It’s such a pretty combination! (Are you seeing these triangles? They are half covered with pieces of patterned paper. Love it!)

Did you get inspired to look through your stash? (Thumbs up)

Halloween Inspiration is Here!

Before we start with all the beautiful Christmas layouts and projects, let me catch you up with the Halloween projects the Design Team created.

Margaret Carpenter has a scary good page with Carta Bella’s “Trick or Treat” line. She used Kiwi Lane templates for the great curves at the bottom of the page and her Silhouette Cameo to cut the fun title and other Halloween shapes. What a great page for this picture!

Margaret Carpenter also made this bold Halloween treat!  The papers are Authentique “Moonlit”, with Kiwi Lane templates and Silhouette Cameo cuts. That is one scary trick-or-treater! I love how the stripes paper really adds punch to the page.

Jeanette Kraehmer has walked the plank with this page! I love the way the paper supports the picture. If you have any pirates in your life, this  “Pirate’s Life” line by Echo Park is perfect. I love that it is not your traditional Halloween project. Jeanette has used Kiwi Lane templates to help with the design elements on the page. Do you see them?

Lesley’s little pumpkin is adorable with this “Boo” paper from Pebbles. I love the simple block and line pattern that anchors the picture, but is set off with fun Halloween shapes. This would be the perfect way to use scraps...and not just for Halloween! Do you have pieces and parts left from a paper kit? Stickers, chipboard, and paper? Take this idea from Lesley!

Here is another idea for extra pieces and spare parts… I love this starburst (or is it a web?) pattern that surrounds this “adorable” photo! The black marker around the edges gives the pattern paper extra pop to set it off from the busy background paper. Amanda Hillard used the papers from Pebbles “Boo” line.

Look at this gorgeous creation! Amanda Hillard blew me away with this fun fun layout! The papers come from Carta Bella “Trick or Treat” I love that Amanda backed the element stickers with kraft cardstock to give them a little extra weight on the page. By grouping all the fun elements around the photo, the eye is drawn to it. (I want to kiss those adorable cheeks!)

If you are just getting started on your Halloween pictures from this year, we have lots of fun paper still in stock! With this inspiration to get you going, what are you waiting for?!

Glitter Dust...OH MY!

Oh my! Tim Holtz has created the perfect glitter! Glitter Dust comes in one fabulous color...a vintage gold with super sparkle! I LOVE it. I have been putting it on everything but my face (anyone know how to make eyeshadow with glitter?!). And it comes in a big jar, because you are going to want a big jar of this stuff…

Then Dina Wakley did a smaller clear set of Christmas birds stamps. I think this guy looks like an owl (LOVE)...

This card was stamped and water colored using Distress Markers and a water pen. The “happy holidays” is a die set from Tim Holtz. I applied the Be Creative tape to cardstock and then die cut the words, then glittered everything (including the dog!). The Tim Holtz die set (Sizzix Thinlits: Holiday Words 2) is currently out of stock, but more are coming (if you really want one, call the store and tell us, we will put it on hold for you before it gets here and claimed by someone else!).

Here are two more ideas for this new glitter...inside a glass ornament and glued to a wood snowflake (I used spray adhesive for the snowflake).

Nail polish….how do I make this into nail polish? (I really love this glitter!)

Lots of Fall Fun

While the store is starting to receive Christmas shipments (!!!), our Design Team has us dressed up with Fall inspiration. The paper collections were colorful and rich and had some really fun elements like squirrels and foxes. If you haven’t had time to come look at these projects in person, here they are up close! (Links will take you to our online store!)

Awww! Isn’t Sadie Mae cute! Paula Sales made this gorgeous orange layout using a little bit of everything fall! The orange paper is BoBunny, the patterned papers are Imaginisce and Echo Park. The wood buttons (love) are American Crafts, and then she finished it with Thickers. Whew! I love to see lines mixed and matched like this! And did you see the leaves? Beautiful. I really like the composition of the page with the big colorful blocks at the top of the page, and an over-sized banner anchoring the photo. Then the banner repeats with the title. Very interesting!

Margaret Carpenter is showing us how to use Kiwi Lane templates - she does it perfectly! This pretty page really focuses on the beautiful photograph, but uses lots of interesting shapes and patterns to make it special. The paper is Echo Park “Our Family”, and then Margaret used the Kiwi Lane Chevron templates and brads from Paper Studio.

I am really enjoying this handmade album Paula Sales put together with the Imaginisce “Give Thanks” papers and the Echo Park “The Story of Fall” lines (they go together beautifully). I have just a few pictures of the will have to come see it all in person! I love the wood button sitting in the middle if the daisy in the front cover. What a perfect pairing!

Paula is so good at details like texture. The wood grain embossed paper adds so much interest, but doesn’t compete with the jars.

I am loving the jars she cut from one of the double-sided papers.

This page is so fun! I love the squirrels in this line. I see more wood buttons!

I just have to show you this note pad Paula made. Simple, yet so much style! Wouldn’t you love to  have this? I love handmade gifts. That’s a perfect bow (did you use the new Bowz maker?).

Inside is just a pretty!

Oh! Will you look at this creation by Margaret Carpenter using Echo Park’s “The Story of Fall”! Don’t you feel like you are in that pile of leaves with “cutie”? See those fun layers at the bottom of the page...Kiwi Lane templates! Margaret knows her Kiwi Lane. I  got to watch her think through a new page with her favorite templates...she may convert me to scrapbooking yet!

Speaking of “cuties”...Lesley’s guys are too cute not not scrap! This “simple” page by Lesley Miller has a lot of detail. I love the subtle pattern of this paper from Echo Park. It helps all the other details pop. (That hedgehog..!) I love how Lesley has stacked word stickers around her photos, and then hand drawn stitching around the edge of the page. There is so much to love!

Go take pictures! We still have leaf piles left even if the last leaves are being rained down this weekend! And we still have lots of fun fall paper at the City.

Fall Snap Album

Jesselyn Belk has created the most gorgeous Snap album with Simple Stories Pumpkin Spice papers! I have a couple of pages photographed for will have to come look at the rest of it in person!

This is the front of the album. This is the teal Snap album.

Look at these beautiful pages and pieces. This makes a very fun and interactive book to flip through.

All this needs is pictures and journaling.

Thanks for looking! Remember many of these products can be purchased on our new online store!
