To December Daily or Not?

Happy Thursday everyone!

Can you believe that August is almost over?  I feel like this year is totally flying by and I can't believe that I am typing these words on the blog!  Do you all December Daily?

If you don't know what I am talking about, it goes like this... for the month of December(ish)... or Thanksgiving to New Year's(ish) you create a minialbum to celebrate this time of year!  You can use a kit - there's lots of different ones available - or grab a paper line and create your own!

I have done one for the last two years and I can tell you that I really like doing mine - and why!

1) It is nice to have all of Christmas "scrapbooked" and finished in January!  I usually take a day in January to assemble it and then I am done.
2) I have little people so Christmas could take a huge chunk of my regular album.  Now, I just drop a few highlights in the family album and we have a Christmas specific album!
3) With just a few pictures and "memorabilia" pieces, it is an achievable amount of work to finish!  I am *ahem* quite far behind on my scrapbooking and this does feel like an achievable goal.

If you want to see one, this is a walk-through of my album from last year

There are lots of kits available - Ali Edwards and Studio Calico usually release a kit in early fall and Elle's Studio just dropped their kit too!  We have lots of Christmas lines headed in to the store as well, so you can grab any of our lines and create your own mini (or major) album!

Are you planning on creating one?  Let us know in the comments here or on Facebook!

Now, go get crafty!

Yard Sale Time!

Happy Wednesday!

Can you believe that is already Yard Sale Time again!?!  We are so excited to be hosting this fabulous event in September!  I have some important information and dates for you to add to those planners!  If you are new to the yard sale, it is a great time to sell some of your old/unused/unwanted paper crafting supplies.  We take tools, storage, stamps, paper and embellies, and more!  All you have to do is label and price your belongings, and we do the sorting, selling, and manning!

First of all - the sale runs the weekend of September 27-29th!  Our special consignors only sale is on Friday evening from 4-7 and we open to the doors to the public early on Saturday morning!  Then, Sunday, we have our fabulous half off sale, where lots of the goodies you have been hankering over go for 50% off their regular price!

Want to participate?  You need to stop by the store to get yourself signed up!  Our consignment fee is $10 and you MUST sign the paper with all the rules and details.  It is important to make sure that you have it all written down as we have made a few changes over the last few years.  Plus, this is when you get to pick up your tags.  Only things with pricing tags from SITC will be permitted in the sale.  Your consignors fee includes 50 tags and you can get more for $2 for each 25.

The last dates you need to konw?!?  Your yard sale drop off runs from September 20-26th during store hours.  We cannot take any items before this date!  If you don't know, we use our class and crop space upstairs to store and stage for the event and it gets really wild and crazy with all the boxes!  You will need to pick up your leftovers (if you choose not to donate them) between October 1 and 4th!  Again, we are hosting a crop on Saturday, so you have to get your goodies out :)

Got any questions?  Drop them here or on our Facebook page!

We can't wait to see what goodies you have to share!

New Hand Lettering Classes!

Happy Tuesday!

I hope you all are on the path to recovery since the retreat this weekend!  I have loved seeing snaps of people's projects and it is inspiring me to do a little bit of scrapbooking.  I feel like it has been forever since I just did a little cropping!

But, I am really excited to share that I am teaching my last hand lettering class for the year at Scrappin' In The City in just a few weeks!  I am getting ready to take a maternity leave from teaching with a new baby on the way in October.  We are really excited to welcome a new little one into the family.

Back to lettering!  These classes always fill up fast - and I hope this one will too!  We are lettering on September 8 at 4pm!  The class lasts about 2 hours and you will learn everything you need to know to start your lettering journey!  How to tell your pens apart, pen hold, pen strokes, and upper and lowercase letters... plus writing a few words on the way out the door!  Ready to join in the fun?  Grab your seat at this link right here!

I would love to see your friendly faces that day!  Got questions about lettering?  Drop them in the comments or send us a message on Facebook!

Just like all our other releases, feel free to call the store and we will be happy to do a little personal shopping for you!  In order to hold product, we will need payment over the phone - especially because this Lawn Fawn is going to FLY out the door!

It's Retreat Week!

Happy Monday everyone!

Can you believe it!?!  Retreat week is FINALLY here!  I feel like it has been forever since we started talking about this amazing event and now we are just a few days away from the wagons to start rolling in!  I wanted to share a few friendly reminders about the retreat today, as you start your prep and packing!

1) Don't forget to check out our Packing List!
It is full of lots of great things that you may or may not think about.  Plus, it is nice to have a reminder to put your scissors in the bag!

2) Get organized!
Think about what you want to scrap, the supplies you need, and any inspiration you may want to bring with you.  There is NOTHING worse than getting to a retreat without your trimmer.  We have others you can purchase, but really, it is just frustrating!

3) Find some extra inspiration!
Spend a little time with your new Creative Scrapbooker Magazine (in stores now!) or on Pinterest or your favorite design inspiration site to find some amazing things that you want to inspire you.  You may not need them, but I would always rather have something to look at than to be stuck in a non-creative patch!

4) Stock up!
Swing by the store this week to grab anything you need for the weekend!  We have new stuff coming in all the time, plus all the basics.  We will have a "mini-store" at the retreat, but if you are looking for something particular, swing by!  Of course, our store location is also open all weekend if you need that magic paper line on Saturday afternoon!

5) Call it in!
Don't forget that t-shirt orders are due TODAY by 11am!  Call, message, or email the store to share your size and whether you want one!

6) Watch your email!
We will have more announcements coming in the next little bit about crop details, classes, make and takes, games, and more!

We cannot wait to spend our weekend with you!  I know it is going to be an amazing adventure in Paris that you will not want to miss out on!  If you have any questions, message or call the store and we will do our best to get them answered promptly!

Now, go get crafty (and packing!)

New Inspiration in the Store!

Happy Friday y'all!

This week has flown by and I am sure next one will too in preparation for the Retreat!  Yesterday, I saw that the brand new issues of Creative Scrapbooker have landed in the store and I wanted to share my three reasons that I LOVE scrapbooking magazines!

1) There is something so magical about flipping through the page and seeing that glossy information!  I love how all the details about the pages are laid out at the bottom.  Pinterest... doesn't always do that!  Also, sometimes I just love a print version over Pinteresr!

2) Dog Ear and Cut Out!
I really like being able to dog ear the pages I want to scrap lift... or sometimes I even pull out pages and set them in page kits or my paper line bags if I am really motivated (and planning for a retreat or crop!)

3) Different Suggestions
So, like most social media, Pinterest has an algorithm and the more you like or save something, it shows you more things similiar to it!  So, the more you pin layouts you like, it tries to find things similar layous.  The magazine is going to show you are diverse layout and you may even find an unexpected surprise in the mix!

I know some of you guys are regular readers and can't wait to get your hands on a copy - but if you aren't, I urge you to give it a try!  You might fall in love with the glossy pages (and this month's feature about make ahead Christmas cards and VELLUM!)  You can grab yours in the store.... or buy it online at the link right here!

Now, go get crafty and have a fabulous weekend!

Do You Need Weekend Plans?

Happy Thursday everyone!

I can't believe we are EIGHT days away from the Retreat at Embassy Suites!  I hope everyone is starting to get their packing in order and swinging by the store to grab yesterday's super cute tutorial from Jillibean!

If you are in need of plans for this weekend, we definitely have you covered!  All day Saturday and Sunday we will be in a creating mood!

Margaret is hosting Inky Chicks on Saturday morning!  Join Margaret (who may just be an ink-based wizard) to learn about how to create one page wonders!  You will learn a ton of information from her AND get just a bit messy in the mean time!  There are still a handful of places available in this class - you will not be disappointed!

Then stick around for some wood crafting time!  Snag a spot in this open workshop time to finish up any half done projects ... or get started on your holiday crafting!  These wood pieces make GREAT gifts and you can get started THIS WEEKEND!

And, then, on Sunday, join Missy for some Bible Journaling Storyteller series!  This month we are focused on thankfulness and gratitude.  Missy is creating a gorgeous floral spread in our bibles and creating some floral die cuts too!  This class is already full, but you can put your name on the waitlist if you want!

We can't wait to see you this weekend - and next weekend too!

Now, go get crafty!
