Bible Journaling!

Happy Monday!

Can you believe that the weekend is already over?  We crammed ours full of pumpkin patching and Disney on Ice and a new chili recipe!  This is my favorite weather of all time and I am savoring my first sweater wearing of the season!

I am so excited for our brand new Bible Journaling class tomorrow, Tuesday, night with Missy!  The class runs from 6-8pm.  She is going to teach you how to use Distress Oxides in your Bible!  Missy is a crazy talented Bible Journaler and teacher and her classes are jam packed full of technique and fun, plus, getting to share a little Jesus along the way too!

This is a great class for first time or super experienced Bible Journalers.  If you have never Bible Journal-ed before, this is a great class to get you started with a few techniques to go home and practice!

And, since it is October, you can use your City Chick Coupon for $5 off a class only in the month of October!

You can register online to take the class or call the store to get registered!

Throwback Thursday!

It is one of my favorite days of the week - throwback Thursday!  I wanted to share some of my favorite lines from days past to inspire you to get into your stash and get your scrap on!

First up... the magic of Shimelle's Starshine!

Another favorite... Amy Tangerine's Yes Please!

One more... Pink Paislee's Atlas!  I just dug this travel line out to scrap a family vacation!

What is your favorite line to pull out and scrap with?  Sometimes, doing a deep dive in my stash makes it feel like I am reuniting with old friends!

Now, go get crafty - with the oldies, but goodies!

Jody's Expert Advice!

I am so excited to have Jody share some of her amazing ink techniques on the blog today!  I love watching Jody craft and she seems like a super expert when it comes to all things ink.  So, buckle your seatbelts and let's get ready to learn!  Take it away Jody!

Hey, it's Jody 😊 I thought I'd share my love for Tim Holtz’ Distress Oxide Inks. I find myself reaching for these more and more for just about everything crafty!

I made a color wheel with only 3 colors (Fossilized Amber, Mermaid Lagoon and Fire Brick) So cool right? Look at all the color combos you can make with just 3 inks.

The smaller color wheel was made with Squeezed Lemonade, Candied Apple and Mermaid Lagoon!

The point is, do not be intimidated by these inks! You can use them in so many ways. Use them as watercolors, smear some ink down, give it a spritz of water and get painting. Use them for a scrapbook or card background (my favorite way)! Get an old piece of packaging, smear some down, add water then smooch it right on the paper! And don't forget you can blend these beautifully. Use the foam ink tool, dab it on the ink and get to blending! You can ink the edges of projects for a distress look or for a more finished look!

These are an investment so pick your colors wisely 😉 Who am I kidding, yes, get them all! Don't be afraid to experiment and have fun! It's just color and paper!

Thank you Jody!  This is amazing and I am so inspired to give it a try!  Jody's ink blended circles are available to peek at in the store now!  Everyone leave Jody a little love - thanks for sharing your secrets on the blog!

Happy Monday Everyone!

It was so wonderful to see so many of you all at the VIC crop to Treat Yo'Self!  I am loving celebrating Treat Yo'Self Day 2018 and would love to hear how everyone else is celebrating!

I have another reason to celebrate this week - Pink Paislee's new line Whimsical is headed to the store this week!  I don't have an exact arrival date, so keep your eyes peeled on the Facebook page for its exact arrival!

The line is ADORABLE and I am loving the floral details!

I am particularly fond of the dark blues and greens in this line!  I love the cardstock stickers and the font of those thickers!

Friday Finds: Halloween Tags!

Happy Friday Everybody!

I am so glad we have finally made it to the weekend... although there will not be much relaxing in my house!  Things are in full swing for the busiest season of they year and I am getting ready for craft fairs and fall festivals.

I will make a confession - I am not a huge seasonal decorator.  I just don't have it in my to put up and take down decorations all the time.  I am, however, a big fan of tiny touches on the things I was already doing.  So, handmade gift tags, yes please!  A little bit of lettering on that package I am mailing... of course!  This year, I was thinking of something to up my halloween game a bit and I stumbled across super cute tags!  These would be great for adding to candy bags for trick or treaters OR if you take Halloween treats into your office.  I don't know if anyone does "boo-ing" in their neighborhood (it is really big on my parent's street), but these would be great boo tags too!

Take a peek at what I found on my deep tumble into the dark, spooky corners of Pinterest!  I love that these tags are easy to create with supplies you already have or can get for just a few bucks!  And, to me, they say that you put forth a lot of effort and you are definitely the coolest house on the block!

(How easy is this tag!?!  Torn paper scraps with a little ink at the edges and some googly eyes!  And, you can get googly eyes at the Dollar Store!  A ton of these little tags are done for less than $2 and you can use your scraps!!! Win, Win!)

Also, I know this last one is a card... but how cute and easy would it be to grab some buttons and make spider tags!  I love that it uses supplies in my stash already and is easy to create!!!

What do you guys think?  Do you see some Halloween tags in your future?

Now, go get crafty (and come see us this weekend!)

Ready for the Weekend?

I am so ready for this weekend!  I have been on the road this week and am ready for a little downtime!

The store is going to be slammed this weekend with tons of events and things going on!  Here is a quick run down - and we hope to see you here!

Friday and Saturday are Oak Ridge Memory Magic!  Join us in Oak Ridge for scrapping, make and taking, and more!  This event is hosted by the Oak Ridge Parks and Rec department so you will need to register with them.  We will be a vendor and always love seeing your shining faces at these events!

Saturday is slammed with classes!  There will not be a make and take at the store this weekend due to Oak Ridge Memory Magic.  However, Missy is starting off the morning right with a little bible journaling!  Join Missy one Saturday a month as they do a little deep diving into their bibles and work with a theme. This month is all about being thankful.  The class includes a ton of materials and you will learn so much!  Missy is the master of bible journaling and you will not be disappointed.  You can register for the class right here!

After bible journaling, I am back for more lettering!  I am teaching two lettering classes at the store.

First up, Bounce and Serif Lettering!  This class will teach you TWO new ways to write - a whimsical bounce lettering and a bold serif!  I recommend that you take beginner hand lettering before this class.  I encourage participants to feel comfortable with making clear up and downstrokes.  You certainly do not have to be a lettering wizard!  I will teach you the rest!  And at the end of class, we will make a little framed piece to take home.  You can register for Bounce and Serif Lettering right here!  (The best part of this class, no new supplies to buy!  Just bring your fude pens and tracing paper!!!)

The next class is Hand Lettered Sermon Notes!  We will take your hand lettering skills up a notch while doing a little live lettering!  In this class, we will talk about how to stretch your font into a lot more and making the most of your space.  You need to bring a pen you are comfortable writing with and an open mind!   This class does not require hand lettering experience; it is all about using your skills!  While this class will be using a faith-based background, these skills can be used for anything!  So, feel free to come join us, even if you don't want to letter your sermon notes :)  Register for Hand Lettered Sermon Notes here!

Did you think we were done there?  NOPE!  On Sunday, we are excited to be hosting our next VIC Crop!  I think spots are all taken.... but you can call to get on a waitlist at the store.  This event is only open to our VIC's and will be a blast!

Now, go get crafty (and I will see you this weekend!)
