Yard Sale!

Happy Tuesday!

We  are so excited to be gearing up for one of my favorite events of the year!  Hooray for the Yard Sale!

If you are new to this magical weekend, let me share some details with you!  It is a giant sale of all things paper crafting - everything from tools to stamps to ribbons to paper and embellies.  There are recent lines and some classics too.  The yard sale products are contributed by our WONDERFUL customers and you can find some true treasures for a steal and a half!

We have made a few changes to the yard sale this year to make it more successful for everyone!  The dates have been adjusted to make it easier to shop.

Yard Sale drop off is running from March 22-28th.  We cannot take anything earlier or later, because of our class schedule!  If you have ever seen the pre-sort pile, it is intense.  If you have a drop off conflict (I did two years ago!), I recommend you take your things to a friend's house and they can do the drop off for you!

We are so excited to host our Consignor Night... with a twist!  Consignor Night is being called VIC Night this year.  All consignors can come and shop for FREE to get the first dibs on what is in the store.  This night is Friday, March 29th from 4-8pm!  If you aren't a consignor and are dying to see what is in the stash, we are opening the presale to our VIC's only!  VIC's do have to pay a $10 fee to get in early (but again, consignor's are free!)

Then, we have an Early Chick Sale that ANYONE can attend - VIC or not on Saturday, March 30th.  This is a $5 ticket for anyone who comes and then at 10am, we open the event to the public!  Anyone can come and shop for some amazing deals and steals on crafting supplies!

And last, but certainly not least, on Sunday, we have our half price sale!  Anything with a colored tag is 50% off and the sale will be open from 1-5pm.

Gift cards will be available April 2nd (!) and you can pick up your leftovers from April 2-5th.  After the 5th, we will take it next door to KARM.

I have a couple of tips and tricks that I have developed over several yard sales!

  • Price it to go!  This is a yard sale and I am going to be real.  No one is paying $15 for a half-used paper line.
  • If you keep a perpetual yard sale box (I do!), and you have an item that has been in the box for 3, 4, 5, 9, yard sales, go ahead and donate it.  If it doesn't go in a few yard sales, it probably won't sell.  Cull your stash and share with Goodwill or my favorite - Teacher Supply Depot!
  • Use packing tape and plastic bags!  Make sure your items are clearly labeled and priced with our tags.  I like packing tape because nothing falls out.  Grab a few class bags for paper lines.  I like using gallon or sandwich bags for embellishments.  It is inexpensive and nothing is going to explode all over a box while people are shopping.
  • Follow the rules!  When you sign up to be a consignor, make sure you read all the rules and pricing guidelines.  If it is priced incorrectly or not labeled correctly, your items will not be consigned and that is a waste.
  • Collect, collect, collect!  Go through your stash with a critical eye and set it all to the side.  Then, come back a few days later and look through it again.  My final step is bagging/pricing everything at once.  It takes a few hours, but with the company of a Project Runway marathon, it isn't too bad :)
Are you ready to consign?  Be sure to swing by the store and get signed up!  Your $10 sign up fee includes 50 yard sale tags AND you can use any leftovers from previous years.  If you need more, they are available for 25 tags/$2.

Got a question?  You can drop them in the comments here or on our Facebook page or give us a call at the store and we are happy to help!

Now, go get crafty (and clean out that stash!)
