Yard Sale Time!

 Happy Monday!

Did you hear? We are bringing back the Yard Sale this spring!  This event is a great opportunity to clear out your stash, find some awesome deals, and earn a little bit of crafting cash!  The yard sale is always full of amazing deals on paper, stamps, embellishments, and organization.  This year, we are offering online registration (YAY!) and you can get signed up at this link right here, which include tags being shipped to you!  Online registration is $15 and in store registration is $10.  Both include 50 tags ready  to price your items.  Consignor numbers stay the same from year to year.  If you can't remember your number, call the store and we can look it up for you!

These are some of our tips and tricks to help you have a successful yard sale season!  We can't make any guarantees about what sells, but these are some hints that will help you clear our your Yard Sale stash!

  •  The biggest thing is keeping a yard sale box.  I keep a little box in the corner of my closet or craft room and every time I see something I don't want anymore, I go ahead and toss it in.  Then, come yard sale season, I already have a jump on sorting.  I do go through my paper and embellishment stashes and make sure that I really love everything that I have and if I don't love it, out it goes!  There are too many amazing new things coming :)
  • Price it to go!  I think this is the hardest part, but if you are ready to part with it - price it so it doesn't come back!  It's a yard sale and prices should reflect that!  Think about what you are willing to pay for something and make sure your pricing is aligned.
  • If you have items that have not sold in a few yard sales, go ahead and donate that!  We take things to KARM, but you can also drop it off at Teacher Supply Depot (in Cedar Bluff school) for use by teachers!
  • We use our discretion when placing items in the sale!  If you have things that are not in good condition or really used up (looking at you Thickers sheets with only 3 letters left), it might be time for the recycling bin instead of the Yard Sale.
  • If you are packing papers and paper lines, please make sure there are AT LEAST five papers in the bag.   Also, label that tag with what kind of papers are inside!
  • Use packing tape and plastic bags! We can't sell anything without a consignor tag on it and don't want anything to get lost. I *highly* recommend packaging large items, like paper lines, in a class bag and using packing tape to stick that tag on. Smaller items do really well in sandwich or quart sized bags and you can tape right on there too! Make sure that you are writing legibly too!
  • Follow the rules and mark your calendar!  If you are going to participate, start by writing all the dates in now.  Don't miss a deadline and not get to participate.  We have lots of consignors and cannot take late drop offs!  Also, make sure you read through all the instructions and follow the store directions.  We have so many items - it has to be consistent!  The store is not responsible for items that get lost because they are not properly labeled!
    • March 19th - Mar 25th ~ Drop off items
    • Mar 27th - 29th ~ Sale Days
    • Mar 30th ~ Gift Card Payments Ready
    • Mar 30th - Apr 4th ~ Pickup unsold items
    • Apr 4th ~ Pickup Deadline; items left will be donated
  • Go through everything twice.  I recommend flipping through your stash with a critical eye now... and again in two weeks.  Once you have had a chance to look through it a few times, sit down and price at one time.  It's a great time for a Netflix movie marathon with some pricing tags!
  • We ask that you price items in 50 cent increments!
  • If you have a question -  please ASK!  Call the store or chat with an experienced consignor!

Now, go get crafty!
